I grew up in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, the youngest of three kids in a stable family created by a commissioned salesman and his wife. That family stability was tested when my mom was diagnosed with a terminal liver disease. I was five years old. In an age when little was known about liver diseases, I watched my mom endure countless treatments, teaching doctors and nurses about the nuances of patient care and fighting with everything she had to survive while improving the lives of people she would never meet.
I learned to worry about things we can control and not about what we can’t. I learned that you can control how hard you work and how well you’re prepared to do the work you need to do. I learned that we live life together, so we work hard to change and improve the world not just for ourselves but for those who come after us.
I have tried to apply these principles throughout a career in business and brand consulting, advertising, graphic design, corporate design and communication, corporate innovation and product design, executive coaching, PR, and more.
Over that time, I have worked with small start-ups to Fortune 50 global conglomerates to help create and launch brands, rethink struggling brands and boost successful brands across a wide range of categories, channels and audiences.
I believe that business and brand strategy don’t have to be difficult and they should never be difficult to understand. When done well, even complex programs appear logical, amazingly simple to understand and easier to adopt across the organization.
